Lisa Litjens

Lisa Litjens is a freelance book editor and writer, having worked in publishing for over 16 years. She has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Australia and a Post Graduate Diploma in Professional Writing from Curtin University. She speaks Italian and Spanish.

For five years, she presented the environmental program, Understorey, on Perth’s community radio RTRFM, which cemented her passion for the environment and sustainability. She has been co-writing an eco novel and spends much of her time helping out on environmental campaigns with writing and editing.

She has edited fiction and non-fiction, history and environmental reports, with two published works of historical non-fiction winning the Premiers Award, 2010 (WA) and the Margaret Metcalf Award, 2013.

She was the Associate Editor for the creative writing journal, indigo, volumes 1-3; and researcher, writer and editor for the Kaartdijin Noongar cultural website at the South West Aboriginal Land & Sea Council (recognised by Department of Premier and Cabinet as a valuable public asset).

In the Federal election 2013, Lisa campaigned for The Greens WA: writing, editing and organising other volunteers to re-elect Senator Scott Ludlum. She has been a volunteer in Senator Rachel Siewart's office as a researcher and writer.

A great deal of her freelance work consists of developmental editing and mentoring writers.
