Freelance journalist and commissioned book author 1981-1998.
Author of 20+ published books, chiefly on history/culture/wildlife/botany/ecology of SE Asia, but also 'Culture Shock! Australia', a handbook on the Australian lifestyle for newcomers, reprinted since 1991 and now in 8th edition, international sales.

Qualifications

Ilsa has acted as Editor of a large number of professional publishing projects, 1968 - to date. Her strengths are her extraordinary diversity of experience - from her Chinese Studies degree and Asian experience, to her track record of collaborations with scientists, particularly biologists and ecologists, to produce layman-friendly works of accessible science - her strong feeling for historical research projects, and her personal passion for the English language.
